💙for the love of myalup
Being witness to special moments and creating the setting for those memories is exciting and heartwarming.
This is a short story of one such occasion involving a recently married couple (not real names) and a surprise picnic.
Let’s start with Belle, their chariot for the day, a beautiful white 1957 Chevrolet driving them to their picnic. Our happy couple, Amber and Mark, are sitting in the back on plump red leather, occasionally spotting their reflections in the spotless chrome finishing, chatting away whilst the green Harvey countryside whizzes past them. Mark has no idea what’s happening today. At this stage he believes this car journey is the special treat for the weekend.
Fast track slightly and their picnic is waiting for them in their special place - the park in the small coastal town of Myalup. A table set for two sits under the shade of the peppie trees with the flowing branches gently swaying in the breeze. This is the exact spot where Amber and Mark said “I do” just one month prior, under the peppie trees with the flowing branches gently swaying in the breeze. The decor is blue and white to match the wedding theme and bridesmaids ‘ dresses, and the chalkboard says “Happy 1 month Anniversary hubby bubby”, as requested.
The gentle rumble of Belle’s engine in the distance signals their arrival in to town. After a short drive around they arrive at the park and happily enjoy the afternoon reminiscing their special day. Reliving the emotions and excitement with their family and friends laughing and gathered especially for them. The music from our picnic speaker adding to the wedding memories.
Harvey is an inland town full of local producers from citrus and cattle to wine and cheese with tourism experiences for all the family. On the coast from it is Myalup, a serene coastal gem popular for a beach great for fishing and swimming. Its proximity to Lake Preston and the Yalgorup National Park makes it a must visit for nature lovers and bird watchers, with walking trails through the raw and beautiful bushland to enjoy. As always we spend the afternoon enjoying the area - today’s treat was enjoying fish and chips from the local store on a wind-free beach day.
As the sun starts to set on their picnic, and Belle arrives to transport them home, Amber is walking towards the car and stops as she’s spotted something in the grass. Bending down her smile grows. She’s found one of the trinkets that fell off her bouquet on her wedding day. Today was meant to be ...
Enough said. What a great memory to add to their day. Myalup will always have a special place in their hearts and this picnic day will be a part of those memories now.
